By Alberta Champions Society

The Alberta Champions Society is pleased to announce the unveiling of a new Field of Fame at WinSport’s Canada Olympic Park on June 19, 2026.

Located at one of Calgary’s most significant sporting and Olympic legacy sites, this new Field of Fame will celebrate seven remarkable Albertans whose contributions have left a lasting impact on sport, community leadership, education, and public life.

As part of the unveiling ceremony, the top prize winners of the 2026 Alberta Champions Student Contest will also be recognized and presented with their awards.

The WinSport Field of Fame will honour:

  • Gwen Davies (1941–2020)
  • Dr. Dennis Kadatz (1938–2019)
  • Frank King, P. Eng., OC, LL.D. (Hon) (1936–2018)
  • Norman “Normie” Kwong, CM (1929–2016)
  • Doug Mitchell, CM, AOE (1939–2022)
  • Bob Niven (1942–2023)
  • Joan Colleen Snyder, CM, LL.D. (1932–2022)

As a key legacy venue of the 1988 Winter Olympic Games, WinSport provides a fitting location to recognize these outstanding individuals whose leadership, vision, and dedication helped shape Alberta and inspire future generations.

The Alberta Champions Society created the Fields of Fame program to preserve Alberta’s history while encouraging young people to learn from the stories of those who have made significant contributions to their communities.

Additional event details, including unveiling ceremony information and public attendance opportunities, will be announced closer to the event date.

We look forward to celebrating these Alberta Champions and their enduring legacy on June 19, 2026.
