2025 Contest Entry Form

The 16th Annual Student Contest is open for entries after January 13, 2025
and the contest deadline is Monday April 17th, 2025

We thank all the students and teacher who have participated in this years’ Student Contest.

Getting Ready to Submit Your Entry

Check these and further details before submitting your entry on the Contest Entry button below.

FOR THE STUDENT: Check the entry for the following:

(1) the FONT is Times Roman 12 point,
(2) the file FORMAT is Word (not PDF or Google doc), Google doc should be saved as a Word doc and have the file name end in “.doc”. Images that are part of a submission should be converted to a JPG/JPEG format, and the submitted files must be under 10 mb. Images (particularly original digital photography) embedded in a Word document should  be no more than 1600 pixels in their largest dimension before inserting to reduce total document sizes.
(3) the LENGTH of the text section of the entry is up to 1000 words for Grades 4-6, the LENGTH is up to 1500 words for Grades 7-9,
(4) Other media: If your entry is a piece of art, include a photo of the art plus accompanying text. For videos (no longer than 5 minutes)  provide the link to the video on the entry form.
(5) the CONTENT not only discusses the champion but also how they influenced you to “be a champion”,
(6) nowhere include your name (it should only be in the entry FORM) , and
(7) finally: run a SPELL-CHECK and grammar-check on your submission.
(8) for  2025, we have added the requirement for students to act with integrity and the the entire entry is your own work

FOR THE TEACHER: When you complete the form (next page), please

(1) PRINT the Entry Form,
(2) Have the parent SIGN the printed forms  and
(3) take a PHOTO of the signed form using your phone or a digital camera, and
(4) either (A) ATTACH the image file to the form OR(B)  REPLY to the Entry Confirmation e-mail you will (or would have) received* and ATTACH the photo image file to the email.

* The parent, teacher, student, and school would each receive an Entry Confirmation e-mail sent to each e-mail address provided!

Contest Entry Form

This contest is open to all Alberta Students between grades 4 and 9 (in two divisions: Grades 4-6 and Grades 7-9).

The entry deadline is April 17, 2025.

Complete this form, and upload the student’s story, essay, poem, or accompaniment to artwork ONLY in a Word format (not PDF or Google Doc!). Submit videos by uploading to YouTube and include a link to the video in the form below. If you are submitting artwork, save it in either JPG (JPEG) or PDF (Adobe Acrobat) formats. Files must be smaller than 15 megabytes (MB)

Print this form and have the student's parent sign it. Take a photo of the signed document and upload with this form or email it to Alberta Champions (by replying to an entry confirmation email and attaching the image file).

If you are having difficulties uploading files (it happens!) see the Next Step... (in the red box, below) and attach the files to the Entry Confirmation Email you receive shortly.

Items marked * are mandatory fields, and items marked ** are collected for aggregate statistical purposes only.

This form can only be used to updated/modify entries already submitted PRIOR TO APRIL 17, 2025 (like, for missing permission/consent forms). Any new entries submitted after the Entry Deadline using this form ARE VOID and will not be considered by the judges.



The Contest Entry

This entry can be an essay, story, poem, video or artwork with accompanying script.

upload your Microsoft Word processor document. The file is checked for valid file extension (Mac Word users, add .doc to end of file name)

Upload only a Word document or JPG/JPEG image files no larger than 10mb. (Email web@albertachampions.org for instructions for any other file types)

Next Step: You Will Receive a “Confirmation of Entry” Email

Every person whose email is provided in this form will receive a Confirmation of Entry Email. You may reply to that and submit additional details or files.

When you receive the Entry Confirmation Email, if the email shows, for submitted files (for Essay/Story or the Permission Form): “File Upload You do not have permission to do that“, this confirms a problem with the file you were trying to upload.

If this is the case, please submit the files by attaching them in a REPLY TO  the Entry Confirmation Email, and we will add them to the entry on our end.
